Community Emergency Response Center – DVFD Station 1

Location: 183A NM-75, Dixon, NM 87527

As part of our Community Wildfire Protection Plan, the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) has developed Station 1 to serve as a Community Emergency Response Center, offering essential resources and support during emergencies, including wildfires, floods, and district-wide power outages. Located in the heart of our community, Station 1 is designed to be a resilient, reliable resource during times of crisis.

Purpose of Station 1 as a Community Emergency Response Center

Station 1 is not just a fire station—it’s a dedicated emergency hub built to support the community when it needs it most. Whether it's during wildfires, floods, or other emergency situations, DVFD volunteers are committed to providing a safe space and essential services for the public. The center offers shelter, information, and critical resources to residents in times of need.

Capabilities and Resilience

  1. Solar-Powered & Back-Up Battery
Station 1 is fully powered by solar energy, with a back-up battery system in place. This means that even during power outages or grid failures, our systems will continue to operate, ensuring that the center remains functional and ready to serve the community.

  2. Black Mesa Wi-Fi Connectivity
Our station is connected to Black Mesa Wi-Fi, ensuring reliable internet access during emergencies. This allows us to stay connected, share information, and coordinate with local authorities, emergency services, and neighboring communities in real-time.

  3. Emergency Shelter and Community Support
In the event of a power outage or other emergency situations, DVFD volunteers will open the doors of Station 1 to welcome members of the public. This space will serve as a temporary shelter for those in need, offering a safe environment, access to basic needs, and emergency communication tools.

  4. Emergency Equipment and Resources
Station 1 is equipped with various emergency supplies, including first aid kits, firefighting equipment, and emergency food and water rations. Our volunteers are ready to assist with basic first aid, emergency shelter, and coordination with local relief agencies to ensure that all community members are taken care of.

  5. Community Liaison and Information Hub
Station 1 will also act as an information hub during disasters. Whether it's providing updates on evacuation routes, helping coordinate volunteer efforts, or sharing safety protocols, DVFD Station 1 will be a point of contact for residents seeking information during emergencies.

Open to the Public During Emergencies

During critical emergencies such as natural disasters, power outages, or widespread crises, the DVFD volunteers will open the doors of Station 1 to the community. Whether you are seeking shelter, need to charge your phone, or need access to important emergency services, Station 1 is here to help.
